Today we went to a sanctuary called Wild is Life. We stepped out of the car and went through the gate. While Mommy signed the waiver, we ran to see some birds. There were two parrots and two peacocks! Then we sat on a huge swing and watched a baby elephant with an injured leg have a goat jump on top of it to cheer it up. Then, our guide introduced himself. His name was Shawn. Shawn led us up a path to some giraffes, and he gave us all some branches with leaves on them so we could feed them. It was so fun! Then we fed some pigs with carrots, apples, and other fruits and vegetables. Then, we went down to a building to eat. We were given hot towels to clean our hands and led inside. There were cookies and tea, and a bunch of other pastries and treats. We ate most of them. It was very yummy. Next, we walked outside to see some elephants. We learned all their stories and why they came here. Then some workers gave them their milk. The milk bottles were huge, but the elephants finished them in no time. Then, we were led to the lions. We watched them get fed and learned some interesting facts about lions. For example lions have spikes on their tongues and can make them stick up if they want to skin their prey. Next he led us to the pangolin where its caretaker told us a little about it. We also got to see it walk! It was surprising to learn that pangolins walk on only their two back legs and use their front two to stabilize itself. After that, we saw the two hyenas and learned why they were here. Harry, one of the hyenas came here with the other one, Athena because someone was caught trying to ship them and a lot of others into a different country. Athena came here because her leg was damaged and paralyzed during the inspection, and harry came here as well because he was too young. Then, we headed back into the building where they gave us savory snacks. We watched the animals and we also got Fanta! It was very yummy. Then we played around in some beds that could rock, and left.
So cool that you got to see a pangolin!
ReplyDeleteIs that first creature a sloth? What's hanging from its mouth? Is is a long string of drool?
