Acadian the 🤠

We walked a total of 14 miles today and also rode the metro. Tickets are 25 cents each, while taking an Uber is 10x the price. It helps that I speak a little Spanish, although I’m definitely rusty. In the morning we walked to a coffee place before picking up pastries (concha chocolate, dulce de leche & tarragon pastries, and a corn muffin we took with us) at Panaderia Rosetta. The place was packed, so we decided to forgo the hour long wait for a table. We then took the metro to an artisan store, where we bought a straw hat for Acadian and then went to a restaurant filled with locals where we ate lamb barbacoa tacos. You buy meat by the kilo, so luckily we only ordered 1/4 kg, which was plenty, along with a cup of very rich lamb consumme. Then we took the metro to Chapultepec Park, where we walked up to the castle but didn’t go inside. Since Kyusik was hot and grumpy, we walked out of our way for ice cream, where we got hibiscus and ginger sorbet and a double scoop of vanilla and green tea with strawberry. We then hit a hip houseware store before getting some amazing beans for Acadian, a bean tamale with tomato sauce and a mango agua fresca for me, and a mixed corn with cheese tamale and pasilla sauce and beer for Kyusik. We racked up more miles by then heading to the original Churreria El Moro for cold vanilla chocolate and churros. At the point it started raining, so we then hurried to the Sears, which is supposed to have a good view from its 8th floor cafe of the Palacio de Belles Artes, which was already closed. Since no one was hungry, we took the metro back to the flat, showered, and did laundry before heading to dinner. Unfortunately the seafood taco place we wanted to try had already done their last call, so we ended up getting pizza rolls and waffles fries with bolognese sauce at a stand where we saw lots of other people congregated. It hit the spot, and once again we remarked how Bryce would’ve loved it. We all miss him a lot but hope he’s having fun backpacking with his classmates in Joshua Tree.
