Special Time with Bryce

I took this week off to spend some time with Bryce. We also couldn't sign him up for SFS since the middle school program is 2 weeks long, and we are leaving on Sunday. In addition to surfing and luge carting, we spent some time on the beach with Benji and his family on our last day in Busan. Since Bryce wasn't hungry, I went to get some odeng, or fish cakes, from a store and brought back one with rice cakes and sausage, which Bryce enjoyed. The store is one of several in Busan and has huge fish cakes on a stick outside. You can chose the fish cakes you want, place them on a tray with tongs, and then heat them up and eat them along with hot broth, after you've paid for them. Even though it was raining, Benji and Bryce jumped the waves and body surfed while I sat under an umbrella with Benji's mom and chatted. Our hotel had stations near the beach with high-powered air nozzles to clean the sand off our shoes and feet, which is something I haven't seen elsewhere. Our hotel had outdoor mineral spring baths, so we also soaked in the pools, which ranged in temperature from 37-43 degrees C. Although Benji's family invited us to join them at dinner, Bryce wanted to have tonkatsu, Japanese fried pork cutlet, so I found a place nearby. I didn't realize it was such a casual place where you order at a kiosk and then they make your food to order. It was served with rice and various sides, including kimchi. We walked to get dessert at place called Go Mango, which I thought Bryce would enjoy because he loves mangoes. We had a hard time placing the order at the kiosk because even though there was an option to convert everything into English, it didn't actually work. We had to look at the menu, and then find the matching hangul (written Korean) on the kiosk. Bryce selected some shaved ice with coconut milk, mango soft serve, and mangoes. We walked back in the rain and finished it at our hotel before going to bed.
