Japan Trip 🇯🇵
One of my highlights of the trip was going to a matcha store in Tokyo because we got to try some of the ice cream and it tasted very delicious.
Another highlights was the fish market sushi. We woke up at 5:00 and went with Brian to the fish market by train. Coincidentally we were seated at the same spot we had sat at the last two times and the sushi chef remembered us from before. The sushi was delicious, especially the fatty tuna, but unfortunately Acadian had a hard time eating the fish because of his new expander so I tried to help by telling him to swish it down with soup and tea.
Next, we went to a train station store where we bought some bento boxes in preparation for our ~2 hour train ride to Nozawa Onsen. I chose two bentos: a katsu sandwich box and a chicken karaage box. I didn't end up eating the chicken until later, but they both tasted delicious. When we got to the Nozawa Onsen train station, we took a bus ride to the town.
On our first night we realized that our reservations at the restaurant for dinner were scheduled for the wrong date, so we went down to the food court. It was called the Kongo Food Court, and the welcoming guide had recommended but in the end we didn't really like it because it was catered more to American tourists while we wanted to try the authentic Japanese food. I chose a fatty tuna bowl, but it was only okay, not nearly as good as the fish market sushi.
The weather the first few days wasn't good, mostly rain and ice so we didn't do much skiing until later days. On Friday tons of powder suddenly dumped from the sky the whole day and so the skiing was much better but the visibility was worse and my goggles were freezing up. Saturday was the best day because it was clear and there was also left over powder from Friday.
Finally, we went back to Tokyo for a few more days where we shopped and ate food.
